Power steering control valve.

Ok so when I sold my old 350 I forgot to pull the control valve out of the power steering pump. I went to the local yard today the oldest pump I could find was out of a 79 Malibu and its the same as the lq4 pump. Anyone know where I can order a new valve for the 350 pump? I tried ordering a whole pump but it doesn't come with the valve in it? Pretty much done with my swap minus this. Ill even buy one if someone has one.

The valve that you're looking for is getting harder to find in junk yards these days. You can also get by with an o-ring to flare adapter like this:

The short version of how to use it is to stick the adapter in the link above into the existing metric fitting in the LQ4 pump. Then the threads on your SAE hose are close enough that it will screw into the pump and seal on the adapter. I know it sounds goofy, but it works and it works well. The link above is for reference, but parts stores carry them as well since they're used in A/C systems to convert from flare to oring.

I had the same issue on my 76 conversion. I got a complete pump off of a buddy parting out a late 60's truck. I could not find the fitting any other way.

I picked up a complete old power steering pump from a 69 camaro off of eBay for $30 as I was in the same boat and could not find just the parts. I would like that any pump from the 67 - 72 area GM vehicle would work fine as they are all the same. I have mine installed but not in the truck yet.

Thanks for the replies guys. I contacted a hydraulic hose shop and they can modify my hose and install the metric end for the lq4 pump. Not sure what I'm gonna do yet though.

The only other thing you need to bare in mind is that the flow is changed with the valve and from what I was reading the ones on the LS pump do not flow right for the older gear boxes and people have reported issues with hard to steer and other stuff.

Yeah I have a valve from a 79 Malibu. The threads are the same as the lq4 but I'm assuming its valved different for the Malibu.
