Re: What do you think about this color
Big fan of the two tone. I have narrowed it down to three paint choices when it's time to paint my K5.
1) Medium Olive 2) Ochre 3) Two tone Medium Olive over white. Basically replacing the Orange in your pic with Medium Olive. Last edited by Senorx; 12-05-2014 at 02:02 PM. |

I think Anvil would look alright. what do you have planned for the interior, maybe compliment the interior with some white areas/sections? |

Re: What do you think about this color
im not a fan of the JK Anvil color from last year, simply because of the non metallic paint.
they also did a green color this year called Tank. i do like the gray color, and you might check out the 2012 dodge charger Tungsten gray |

Re: What do you think about this color
um interesting, I though the non metallic paint color would give it a modern twist on 70s paint style.

I love the non-metallic colors out lately from severeal manufacturers. Anvil gray is cool.

The Anvil color does nothing for me, but that's just me.

Re: What do you think about this color
That Mississippi mud grey does nothing for me either, very blah in my opinion. I may go as far as to say it may be less exciting than just about any color I've ever seen one of these trucks painted including primer. Sorry to be harsh but I just don't think it does anything for that period of vehicle, and the only reason it is passable at all on the Jeep is because the Jeep is a rather slabby plasticy looking vehicle.

Re: What do you think about this color
I believe a vintage car or 4x4 should wear its original color ... So many great colors with a lots of character... But everybody's different

Re: What do you think about this color
I feel like the Anvil color might look better paired with black instead of the white.

Re: What do you think about this color
A color can truly set the feeling of era for a vehicle. Non-metallics were used up to the fifties, with lots of chrome. On these trucks, they can give it a classic hot rod feel, but it definitely pulls it away from the 60-70's style that they were originally built with.
I for one, think it would look a lot better in person, than the photoshop renderings. The flip side, is most people into a specific classic vehicle, like them for the memories and era they evoke. Original colors are part of that. I can't help thinking most of us would hate ochre, or the original greens on these trucks, if we didn't have positive memories of the era they were a part of. Bottom line is if it looks cool to you, it is cool, unless you're trying to sell or show it. |

Re: What do you think about this color
The color asked about is essentially battleship gray, it's an intentionally unexciting color chosen for Navy ships to make them not standout against, well, anything. It's kind of the definition of an unexciting color. I don't think one of these old trucks has the persona to carry a stealthy color like that, it's not the character of the truck. This for me has a lot more to do with it than whether it's a period correct color or not. I've seen these trucks look good in stereotype '50s colors as well as more modern colors, this color to me just looks more like Nantucket house paint than an exciting vehicle color. I also think it's a color that against chrome makes both the chrome and the color look worse.
