How many real 70 Cst-10 SWB 4x4s are out there?
Looking to see how many SWB 4x4s from 1970 are out there still. Especially how many of them are Cst's like mine.

Re: How many real 70 Cst-10 SWB 4x4s are out there?
NOT MANY!
Actual production numbers were 2554 Fleetside and 1629 stepsides. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=104816 You'll never know how many are actually left and there is no breakdown of sales vs trim packages, etc. that I've ever seen.

That's all the info I can find as well. And when I search them I get very few if any results.

Re: How many real 70 Cst-10 SWB 4x4s are out there?
Unfortunately, that's about as far as GM went in terms of keeping records. Even more unfortunate is that all of the GMC info was lost in a fire, so we have no clue how many GMC's were built for the 67-72 model years.
However, just based on production numbers alone you have a pretty rare truck! And a nice looking one at that!

Re: How many real 70 Cst-10 SWB 4x4s are out there?
Thank you. From what I was told about the truck it was redone by a guy who either owned a body shop or just did body work in Iowa. You can tell in person really how much time and effort was put into the truck. It is 71,000 original miles, and the interior is mostly original. I purchased it with aluminum wheels on it and found these wheels and had them redone in a light cream to match the interior vs all white. Still undecided if it was really the way to go or not. When the truck was redone they went with a new glove box door so I do have the original door with the option tag on it. My only complaint with the truck is the cd player. Is my chance of putting a stock radio in it now ruined?

Re: How many real 70 Cst-10 SWB 4x4s are out there?
unfortunately, if it is cut out, I believe the only way to re install the factory radio is to buy a repair patch and havr it welded into the dash

Re: How many real 70 Cst-10 SWB 4x4s are out there?
Beautiful looking truck! How were you able to substantiate it as a CST if the glovebox SPID is gone? Do you have a copy of the build sheet?

Re: How many real 70 Cst-10 SWB 4x4s are out there?
If I am reading what he said correctly he has the original door with option tag. It just isn't on the truck. As far the the radio I think you probably want to just live with it.

Re: How many real 70 Cst-10 SWB 4x4s are out there?
Thanks - I read that wrongly as maybe the driver door with a blue build date decal. The cargo light is a good sign. Would love to see pics of the SPID.

Re: How many real 70 Cst-10 SWB 4x4s are out there?
Extremly nice! Was it origanally an automatic or 4 spd? Love that interior color, good combo.

Re: How many real 70 Cst-10 SWB 4x4s are out there?
Thank you and yes I have the tag on the original glovebox at home I'll have to take a pic of that. I was told it was originally a 3 on the tree and changed to a 4spd during restoration.

Re: How many real 70 Cst-10 SWB 4x4s are out there?
If no transmission is listed on the SPID (option sticker inside glovebox door), that will support what you were told about the truck originally being a 3spd. Those were the standard transmission, with 4spd or automatic being options

Re: How many real 70 Cst-10 SWB 4x4s are out there?
What about 3spd w/ tilt? That seems kinda rare. Anyway I've never seen one till this one showed up. Cool... Got that spid pic ?
