LS accessories
Hi guys. I am making lots of progress on my 51 and wondered if any of you have any advice on what brackets/accessories worked best to you (to prevent figment issues). I have an LS2 on mustang ii rack with OEM frame so I have some space but not a ton.
Thoughts? Thanks guys |

Depends what accessories you want to run, what you've already got & what you want to spend.
AC? PS? What's on the engine now? I would think with an LS2 (if it was a pull-out) it should be able to fit as it is.

It was a crate motor so I need everything. Alternator, power steering, ac, etc. I guess I am just wondering what brackets everyone be used

I've done the connect and cruise setup and it depends on what accessories you are using and what AC system you choose. VA doesn't let you use the stock AC pump so the stock AC mounts won't work. Their recommended bracket is expensive and looks cobbled together. The Holley brackets look stock and are bulky. I used Holley bracket kit but it needed major mods to the fender wells in a 1950 with a VA AC
Using Old Air you can use the stock AC pump in the stock positions and the stock ALT/PS brackets but you may have to notch the frame rail a bit for the AC pump |

I looked into just about every option out there for my build, and in the end I chose a stock GM set of brackets off of a 98-02 Camaro. I love the placement of the components, essentially hiding the alternator and a/c compressor down low.
  Some notes, though. I'm using a shortened truck water pump with the angle of the outlet shifted towards motor center. This works much better for the stock style radiator on these trucks instead of the directly-forward outlet on the Camaro water pump. Also using a swivel neck housing on the water pump inlet (thermostat housing) - this is necessary for the stock style radiator in this configuration. Also using an A/C bracket from Alan Grove - the compressor remains in the stock location, but I get to use the popular aftermarket Sanden unit. Also, slight notches were required in the frame for the compressor and alternator. Clearance is tight on the front, but it all fits:
