D T Spurs

A few years ago I got into spur making , could not find a set I liked or a set I could afford . so I decided to make my on and here are a few pic's of some I made and sold around Texas . ones I made for me and other family members....

thank you for looking , it takes about 22 hours per set, to make them , most of them go for around $ 450.00 for a nice set of hand made spurs , and I seen a set of Garcia spurs sell for $15000.00 about 10 years ago .

Nice work and artistry. I also don't know about spurs, however can appreciate the craftsmanship. Are they used functionally or for style?

yes you did , I have won first place with that pair of gal leg spurs and also the ones that say D R T on the side at the Lubbock south plains fair. two different years in a row ...the DRT spurs are the ones I made for me. they have been on many a horse . now they just set on the mantel .

they are used to put power steering on your horse , if used properly they are very functionally , a good trained horse can be handled with just your legs and spurs and not the reins . but all good cowboys want a good flashy pair to wear.
