1961 p/u oil bath cleaner.
So I have a question regarding the "oil bath air cleaner".
I have a 61 apache 10 with a straight 6 235 and it's missing , what I thought it was a regular air filter, but now I'm finding out its a "oil bath" air filter. I'm not sure if there's a mount I'm missing that I need for the filter to bolt on. Here's a picture of how my carb looks at the moment. (zoom in for better look) any info would help. Are these hard to find? Does anyone know where or who might sell one? I want to learn a bit more about this oil bath filter so can anyone help me with a link or place I can read more about it. I been doing my search but can't really seam to find anything. I might not be typing the correct terms or words. |

You don't have to run an oil bath air filter. That's just what was used stock. when i went through my 235 i installed a basic filter like this one from ebay.

You know.. I thought about that. It's definitely an easier option but I would love to use a oil bath cleaner. The joy of having something vintage like that is worth the search. Well depends how difficult is to find one. I would like to keep it as original as possible. It's not going to be a daily driven truck so i would be ok with running an oil bath filter. |

Hi and welcome to the group, you have a great looking ride. I may have what you are looking for. I have an oil bath air cleaner (OBAC) for a Rochester carb. Can you measure the diameter of the top of what you have? PM me with your email and I'll frop you a few pictures.
I have no use for the OBAC as I went in another direction.

I agree about the air filter... My question is: Where is your Oil Filter? I see a big bunch of nothing where my 60's oil filter assy was...

You should have a bracket that goes across the top of the carb with a stud sticking up to mount in the center of the air filter. Often the top of the carb is messed up & the bracket will not fit. I have this oil bath air filter that uses a center bolt mount. The oil filter was a dealer or aftermarket installation.

Yep. That's what I thought. Man wish I would have seen your give away thread! There's a member here who has one available but I can't get the measurements of the carb to see if it fits. My truck is at the shop. I need to get some time to go measure it. Would you happen to know what size of the openning of the filter is needed to fit the carb?
