automatic column indicator light
Found an original automatic column for a 65 Chevy PU, but its missing the light for the indicator. There is a long black wire from the turn signal switch connector that was cut near the area where the light indicator would be. Anyone have a pic of the indicator light what it looked like and HOW it mounts onto the column? I need the indicator light and the mount for it.

Re: automatic column indicator light
The factory color coding used black for the horn button wire. It would have originally hooked to the contact ring that's part of the turn signal switch assembly.
I believe the light for the auto trans indicator was connected to the instrument cluster illumination circuit and used a matching gray colored wire. Here's a diagram of the shift indicator light used in 64 Chevy full-size cars with column shift automatics. I'm guessing that the truck columns used a similar setup. |

Re: automatic column indicator light
Mid 60's cars had the same setup, if you can find a nova, impala, etc it will have what you need.

Re: automatic column indicator light
I put a light in mine that is green LED, as I couldn't find anything OEM that I could put in there. These columns didn't come with the light, even though the plastic centre piece has a thing to hold the socket and bulb. There are some pictures of it in my build. Up here those 2 speed auto columns are extremely rare. I bought a whole truck to get that stuff, the powerglide, crossmember, shift linkages, kickdown linkages, driveshaft the right length and correct yoke, rad with the cooling lines, and the column itself. They also came from a cab with the low hump in the floor, like the 3 speed column shift trucks had. The Impala resto places have new lens and chrome cover for it.

Re: automatic column indicator light
I started a thread on this a few months back. .
. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=650004 . I'm thinking of retro fitting a green Christmas Tree light or a LED.
