Special Order Paint Code
Wondered if anyone can help me with a paint code.
The SPID is in tough shape but can make out the 001 for special order paint On the firewall in grease paint is 8398 Grey, anybody seem this code or know anything about the color? Roxie is a 1970 SWB sold in Nashville TN. She has few options, so probably was a utility truck. Looking to find a little more of her history. Any help would be appreciated, down the road would like to repaint this original color. |

Re: Special Order Paint Code
I can't help, but I had a '69 C/20 Stepside that was original light grey that said special paint with no code. All five wheels were painted a dark red from the factory, also. It had maybe three options, but no signs of lettering or other commercial markings

Re: Special Order Paint Code
Thanks, These wheels were black, I found a bunch of faucet and tap washers under the seat and rubber floor mat, but not sure if this was from the original owner

Re: Special Order Paint Code
I wonder if your wheels were black from factory, too. I never saw this before, but I'm 99.9% sure the spare tire was original, they were completely painted on all surfaces, and they had chalk markings on the rim inside the tire

Re: Special Order Paint Code
Didn't the US Navy paint their trucks a special shade of gray?

Re: Special Order Paint Code
Here is another shot, it does look like navy grey. Had never thought of that.
Does that 8389 Grey code on the firewall make sense to anyone? |

Old friend that hadn't seen in years works for Sherwin Williams, checked the number with a 7 in front of the 8389 Came back as a GM grey fleet color, so a little closer

Re: Special Order Paint Code
I was thinking the same thing as Allready Gone, maybe an old military service truck?
