Roof repair
I have a 66 short wide with the worst roof skin I have ever seen but the floors are perfect, I also have a spare cab with a good roof, but horrible floors/rocker. I know the rocker/floor repair is a lot more common, but how hard is a roof skin repair? How is it attached, is it spot welded, or welded along the seam of the drip rails and such? The one with the bad roof looks similar to this all the way around, so it is not just this one section.

Re: Roof repair
I would just fix the red cab. Parts are easy to get and much easier to do than cutting the top off the truck. When that are that bad the rust is usually bad a good way down the pillers.

Re: Roof repair
I'm in the middle of a roof and drip rail repair and it aint easy but I'm an amateur body work guy. I'm patching the bad spots in my roof with pieces cause I didn't have a complete good roof. The roof is held on with lots of spot welds after you dig out all the sealant. I got a bunch of spot weld bits from Harbor Freight and it does a good job.

Re: Roof repair
To answer your question the roof is spot welded all the way around the seam. I have done a few major cab panels and they aren't that bad really. But as I said I have done a few now, so my fear level isn't as high as it was! LOL

Re: Roof repair
I would highly recommend cutting in the middle of the A and B pillars as you will need much more than a roof skin. This will require attention to window opening dimensions.
