Truck Identification

All,

A buddy of mine asked me to post this query because he has no idea what year and model this truck is. And I looked through some of my books and can't figure it out either.

The ID plate on the inside of the drivers door reads the following:

Serial No. 253 P X1749

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

Re: Truck Identification

I came up with a 1962 built in Tarrytown, NY.

Re: Truck Identification

Thanks for the year and location it was built. Like to also know model and style. There are no markings on it anywhere other than the vin plate.

Re: Truck Identification

post a pic to get us closer, there is something missing in the VIN you supplied.
Look at this to see examples of the sequence of numbers and letters for different years, the one you gave does not match any shown.

its a little cryptic and this truck may be a 51, but it is a 1 ton with a heavy suspension at 8800 Gvw.
The X may indicate its a special wheel base but without pictures its really a guess. 1001 to 7363 were made in 51. P is the plant in Pontiac MI. 253 is the model

Re: Truck Identification

Is the truck not complete? Be pretty easy to tell, unless it's just a cab, but even then the cabs have different tell tale signs as to what year it could be. Any pics of the truck itself?
