white walls or black walls
I really like white walls and it was always the plan but for a truck I am planning on driving almost daily they are so expensive. What do ya think? White walls or black walls. It lays out flat on the ground. I need to pull the trigger on a set of tires one way or the other. ●●●photoshop anyone●●●?

I like both depending on the truck.
On yours I would probably go with the black. Kim |

Re: white walls or black walls
Black until the rust is fixed then WW's lol Black looks better on that year tho and WW suite '47-54 better I think. But there are some killer 55-59s on WW but need to be done right.

Re: white walls or black walls
Agree. White walls are too faddish for me, AND too expensive.

Re: white walls or black walls
Build it the way you want. How about ww one side, bw the other side. That way you get the best of both worlds

Re: white walls or black walls
I would go with headlights and a hood before shopping for tires. However, since you asked for tire recommendations, if you plan on finishing the truck (body work and paint) then I would go with WW. If you are not planning to finish the truck, BW will be fine and save you some coin.

Re: white walls or black walls
I would not put white walls on anything, particularly a driver. Just an opinion.

Re: white walls or black walls
That's a tough decision....WW would make it look cooler and more of a classic custom look, but BW would give it more of a performance look and a bit more bad@ss. Jmho. Cool truck.

Re: white walls or black walls
I don't care what tires you put on it, just that you remember to not do any modifications that prevent someone from changing it back to original and that you remember to contact me first when you get ready to sell it LOL

Re: white walls or black walls
What ever blends in best with the package you are trying to present. Blackwalls on painted steelies with caps and rings can look every bit as good as white walls if you are going for the old time look.
In the 50's or early 60's a lowered custom truck would have had to have whitewalls and those whitewalls would have reflected what the new hot lick whitewall was in that particular time frame. Where guys building a truck with white walls now seem to think they need the big wide gangsta white walls a guy building that truck in 1959 would have run what was current in 1959 and that was a narrower white wall. If he was building it in 1962 he would have run the narrow white walls as that was the latest hot lick thing. Pretty much as the guys today go to the tire store and come home with what the kid at the tire store tells them is the Hot lick of the week rim and tire combo. You can always put on a set of daily driver blackwalls now with some small caps or what not an then after the truck is finished buy a set of whitewalls for when you want to have the whitewall look for shows and that would give you two looks and allow a set of spendy whitewalls to last a lot longer.

Re: white walls or black walls
either option looks good. Something to think about if the truck is going to be a daily driver. I have white walls on my bike that i use as a daily driver and its a PAIN to keep them clean! Something to think about...either way your truck looks good!

Re: white walls or black walls
Nothing beats the great look of whitewalls on period correct steel wheels with the hupcaps and trim rings. However, since you indicate the truck is a daily driver, the 2-3x cost of WW makes the blackwalls the tires of choice for practical reasons. In addition to wider size selection, you can narrow your pick for function as well, all season, longer wear etc.
