I have a '63 parts cab that I am using for donor panels and such. I also decided to pull the dash for a spare since it was in great shape. It was a chore, but mission accomplished!

Was it welded or bolted? Better save that big window panel as well!

2 bolts and a ton of spot welds. Thankfully a spot weld cutter was in my tool box waiting its turn. I do plan to save the back panel as well, I have a future 4 wheel drive project it will be used on.

Will have to be doing the same thing in the near future. Are all the spot welds on top of dash?

The vast majority are but there are a handful on the sides. You need to remove that panel on the inside where the windshield curves up in order to access them. There was also a bolt on each side but those are easy to get to.

I wish these dashes were bolted in...would make painting the underneath a whole lot easier. lol

I was lucky enough to find a great unmolested donar already removed. Will install it on the fleetside this summer. So will be watching this thread in case you beat me to the install.

doobiebro, I don't have any pictures at the moment of those spot welds on the sides but I can get some of the ends of the dash and do some editing of another cab picture to give you an idea where they are located. It will probably be the weekend before I get it posted up.

I thought the double hump dashes were only 60-62?

Nope, the end year was '63 for those. dougf, unless a bracing setup was added I don't see any way beyond welding it back in. Reason is the weld on the front lip of the cab is what keeps pretty much the whole thing rigid. Pulling the dash was really good for getting a better understanding of how the cab was assembled.

Dang - your 'donor' cab is better than most keepers I've seen.

It may look pretty good, but the floors and rockers are bad, lots of rust out in the windshield pillars, and the roof is not good. Lots of other stuff otherwise that will be used for 3 other cabs. Plus, I have a good VIN plate and the title. It was originally a shortbox fleetside that I bought for $500 but had been in a wreck. I have pulled a ton of parts off that over the years, even sold some on this forum, and that cab is all that is left of the truck.
