Out of ignorance, I'd say you are both crazy ! But antiques are crazy. Try the Helms Bakery Museum or JuDee's Collectibles ? Good luck & let us know what you find out.

Where are the American Pickers when you need them ?I dont know their value either but signs are crazy high. I paid dearly for one half of a Shell sign.

Re: Helms bakery truck magnet
What is their vintage and size? I assume not too big. I'd say they have a regional value. I'm not familiar with that company so they mean less to me. Yet, if they were from a now defunct local bakery to me from a good ways back I might be interested. Food related advertising doesn't normally have the following like oil company stuff. Personally, when it comes to signage I would only pay crazy money for porcelain. Embossed even more. Those appear to be from the '60s or newer?

The magnets are 30"x30". Not too sure how old but I'd say early 60's...we may both be crazy but we've taken them the local swap meet and had a lot of interest in them...but I guess things like this are only worth what people pay for them. ..lol...

Re: Helms bakery truck magnet
They are in great condition. At a swap meet you REALLY have to find the right person. People want bottom dollar or a priced so they can flip on Ebay. It's a vicious cycle. It costs you money to sell where the high dollar comes from. If you sell it fast that's not too bad, but the longer it takes the more you pay. You can sell them to a deal but they'll want a big margin. Ebay is Ebay. Have you looked into www.etsy.com ? It's mostly for hand made things, but also vintage. I think it's free, just have to pay something to join
EDIT: I just realized I meant www.ebid.net that is free. I think Etsy is pay to join

Re: Helms bakery truck magnet
As a kid who grew up in Southern California in the 60's they definitely have appeal to me. We used to have a helms panel truck that came to the neighborhood selling doughnuts. Love the memories.
That said they would probably have some appeal to a local collector who is building that "man cave" garage/shop/diner themed building décor. I think I would throw em on fleabay and put a $350 or so reserve on em and test the water. For me, I wouldn't pay more than about $25 for one, but I am a cheapskate.
