Engine Mounts and such
Maybe I've missed it but have not seen it yet. I am about to buy at 2000-newer LM7 engine for my '53. Has anyone done this on here and have any advise from what you learned? Is there an engine mount kit or do they need to be built?
Thanks everyone. |

Re: Engine Mounts and such
I recently bought some motor mounts from Chassis Engineering. I'm using them on the frame to mount a late model engine.
http://www.chassisengineeringinc.com...6-cylinder-19/ They also have LS mounts. http://www.chassisengineeringinc.com...engine-mounts/ I'm betting you could come up with some sort of combination between the two with a rubber mount between them. |

Re: Engine Mounts and such
motor mounts are one of the easiest fabrication jobs a diy'er can do
and usually for a lot less cash

Re: Engine Mounts and such
I agree with Ogre on the mounts. With the 5.3 if I were you I would place the engine where you want it, with the exhaust manifold or headers that you want to use. Then build your mounts. You don't want to have to change the mounts later because manifolds or headers won't clear...Jim

Re: Engine Mounts and such
The mounts I listed, you can get the whole works for less than $100.
I agree, most DIY 'ers can easily fab something up, if you have the steel, welder, and other equipment. But for $100 bill, it's certainly alot quicker and easier. Your time is worth something too. |

Re: Engine Mounts and such
Paps, Here is what I did starting on post 497. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...627134&page=20
I had some street rod style SBC mounts laying around and welded them to the plates I made for the engine side. Then fabricated the frame side mounts. Also, Dirty Dingo LS swap mounts http://dirtydingo.com/store/index.php?cPath=1_354_321 and Speedway Motors LS swap http://www.speedwaymotors.com/1947-5...wap,93991.html |
