2 Speed Wiper Motor?
My 69' Burb has one speed wipers that start out SLOW and get a little faster after it warms up a bit but will not keep up with even a medium rain. Is it supposed to have 2 speeds? Is there a 2 speed motor and/or switch? Is there a good conversion to an intermittent system with 2 constant speeds? Thanks, RD

Re: 2 Speed Wiper Motor?
My guess is you have a 2 speed motor.
Don't know if this will help but my '68 Panel has a 2 speed wiper motor...I had to replace it recently when it was acting similar to yours. Mine seemed to be slowing down and I even had to reach out and give it a shove to get going in the end. I changed out the wiper motor and it works perfectly now. It was an easy enough job for my panel...most of the work took place under the dash, 3 bolts under the dash and a clip under the outside cowl and it's out. I did have the cowl off out front during my trouble shooting so I lubed up all the moving parts there as well. I hear folks say they can remove and replace the motor with the cowl left on but there is a clip you have to remove and replace which can be done through the louvers (is that what the cowl slots are called?) that would save you messing around with your cowl. There are 3 different wiper motors (maybe more?)available...mine had 4 terminals but there are also 2 and 3 terminal motors out there. Also, the new motor didn't come with any rubber parts so keep all your original bits if you go for a replacement. You'll want to give in your old motor to avoid the core charge so that's why I mention stripping it of all the rubber bits. Now intermittent wipers would be nice but I don't know about any conversion... Good luck! Rob. |

Re: 2 Speed Wiper Motor?
Thanks, I'll pull mine out and find out if it's a 3 or 4 pin. I did find an intermittent module at LMC for $73.

This is a link to the company who makes and sells the intermittent wiper module. They have some other stuff that's pretty kool as well and they are cheaper!! They are called Revolution Electronics.
