Windshield channel fix
I posted these pics in the buy/sell trade section as Im looking for a subscriber who might have patches.
However, when replacing these are they simply in by the pinch welds like the back window channel? I replaced a few of those and just wanted to know if the process is the same. Thanks! |

Re: Windshield channel fix
Yes they are pinch welded in like the back. I dont think they make patches for these areas just have to cut up some out of sheet metal and weld them in. You could always find another cab that might have these parts in better shape and cut them out. Its a good amout of wourk to fix this stuff so be prepared to spenda good deal of time. Also while you have it all cut out its a good idea to coat the inside with some kind of rust preventive coating.

Re: Windshield channel fix
Here is a cab parts blowout to give you an idea of the assembly points. As was mentioned most of the parts are laps spot welded together. The assembly manual has a little information that would be helpful as well.
As to loocating the parts I'd suggest you subscribe and post a WTB for sheetmetal cuts or maybe a whole upper cab. You might find that inner and outer roof are worse than thought.

There is a member in Arizona, t. korinek, he specializes in our trucks and he will cut and sell/ship anything you need. He is very trust worthy, Ive dealt with him several times and he isn't over priced on his old steel. Good Luck
