Best Rubber Valve COver Gasket?
I plan to change the valve cover gaskets soon.
I currently have a set of the orange Fel-pro gaskets on there ($20-30). They have the black plastic insert in the center. They also have the little ridges along the gasket. My current covers are most likely bent and causing the leak. I have an extra set of these gaskets, but was thinking of trying something else. I do not like the ridges in the gasket. I would prefer a consistant solid shape, like stock cork gaskets. Does anyone make a rubber valve cover gasket like that? Price is not an issue. I am tired of the leaks. Plus I have some nice cast covers that should distort less and give a better seal.

Are the orange ones the PermaDryPlus material? (Same stuff as used in the one piece oil pan gasket) Those work awesome for the oil pan.

I have never used rubber valve cover gaskets on the 85. I use Mr. Gasket's Ultra Seal's. They have never leaked. These are a composition cork gasket. I glue them to the valve cover. This way, I can remove the cover and not destroy them. I've had the covers off several times and never replaced the gaskets. No leaks as of yet. I think they would work well for you since you will need to be removing the covers on a regular basis adjusting the valves.
