There is a patch panel for that. Got mine from LMC. O K , just realized that maybe your ? is what to do when repairing with the patch panel... I'd say make some braces. Mine isn't in yet but that's what I plan to do since I still appear to get some flex/droop of the body tub with the top on.

Personally I would do the repair with the top on.
If you do it with the top off there could be misaliginment and when you go to put the top on the mounting screws might not align. There is a very slim chance of it going out of wack by cutting that piece out because that metal isnt largly structural. Are your rocker boxes on there or non exsistant? The kick panel kind of folds over underneath at where it meets the floor so there may be some need for repair there. I will attach a picture that shows this area. It aint a fun place to work in. |

You guys have me scared now...My husband did our whole floorboards, kick panels, and door pillars with the top off and no braces or anything. He is really good at fitting and welding since that is his job- (he owns his own welding business), but now I am a little worried that the top won't fit quite right when we put it on.... I guess I will let ya know later. Hopefully this doesn't make for leaks later...hmmmm.

Hey Luke, Instead of buying that welder you told me about, now that I see the rust damage, come on over tomorrow. I picked up a new roll of duct tape and a gallon of bondo.. We can do it!
