65 gmc fatman suspension

First of all I am not a mechanic but love working on my truck.I want a modern front suspension on my truck. My question is,is a Fatman front suspension a good value and a good set up for my truck(1965 GMC short bed, fleetside)? Is there better set ups that are a good value out there.I would appreciate any feed back. Thanks Jerry

Honestly i would skip the aftermarket stuff,You can bolt in the whole front suspension from a 73-87 c10 if you drill two holes,And no limit has a rack and pinion kit if you want one.If i had to go aftermarket i would go no limit or scotts hot rods both are forum vendors.

Re: 65 gmc fatman suspension

There is the make it handle thread to go through that has a ton of info on this subject.
I have done a lot of the updates and little things to improve the ride and handling and it is fun to drive. Is yours truck arms or leaf springs in the back?

Re: 65 gmc fatman suspension

I just talked with Justin at Scotts Hot Rods and decided to go with them, just waiting to pull the trigger, thanks to all who replied to my questions.(he gives members of the 67-72 chevy truck a discount which helped a lot on keeping the price down)

Are you going with air bags or coilovers?

Re: 65 gmc fatman suspension

I have noticed that scott's ifs may be one of the few that has the upper a arms that can be lengthened or shortened to perform an alignment. This feature should be paramount to prevent bumposteer because the inner pivot point is not moving during alignment. Read the "make it handle" thread and early on in the thread there are drawings with lines going through the pivot locations affecting bvumpsteer

Re: 65 gmc fatman suspension

scotts is top notch.
I could be mistaken but I believe fatmans are mustangII based, not that there's anything wrong with that. fatman has been around a long time
