55-59 6cly vs V8 front mounts
guys my 56 panel had a 283 in it when i got it and it had some fabbed mounts, im puting a 235 back in and need some stock mount info. are the mounts in same place? heard v8 mounts were shorter, lots of pictures would be great. i can buy the v8 stuff new and fabbing up mounts could be done since bellhousing will get location pretty close. thanks!

Re: 55-59 6cly vs V8 front mounts
6 cylinder mounts directly to the front cross member. The brackets bolt to each side of the engine on the side behind the timing cover. You will need a truck bellhousing with the side mounts for six, v8 will not work. Once you sent the engine in place with the bellhousing, the front mount location will be obvious. Here is a photo that might help.

the brackets on engine are the ones i'm missing. this is where frame mounts are. explains homemade brackets on the 283!
