In Tank Pumps: Non Stock Tank
So I see these in-tank aftermarket pumps out there but how do you install one in a fuel cell? Do I have it installed when they weld up the tank? Do I need to have some sort of carrier for it to rest in? I don't understand how you put something like this in a tank that electricity goes thru. Is the Aeromotive Phantom the best bet?

Re: In Tank Pumps: Non Stock Tank
I'd just get one of the later model sending unit/carriers from a newer truck, and put a 255 (or other) in-tank pump into it. Guys do it for stock tank swaps.
Then just measure or take them the sender so they can put a provision in the top for the sender to mount (a hole). Think of it like a fishtank or small fountain pump. Those sit IN the water, and don't short out either.

Re: In Tank Pumps: Non Stock Tank
you should look at something like this for a cell. http://www.tanksinc.com/index.cfm/pa...prod/prd84.htm
you cut a hole in the top and set this in place. it has the pump, pump tray and carrier on it |

Re: In Tank Pumps: Non Stock Tank
After digging a little deeper I will go with the Phantom because my cell will be quite large, 28"W X 24"D X 12"H giving me a capacity of 32 gallons with one inch air space. I'm building the truck to be driven more than just around town but down to So. Cal to see friends and relatives.

Re: In Tank Pumps: Non Stock Tank
Cool. You can do an in tank with any size cell. Some guys use twin-in tanks as well. I'm sure the phantom is a good piece tho. Let us know how it goes.
