replacement 283 or original?
hey guys im trying to figure out this 64 c20 fleetside I just purchased.checking on how original it really is or is not, motor is orange so I believe it was replaced or out of the truck way back when, whats your opinion? 283 4 speed.

Somebody correct me if Im etong, but weren't the truck 283's gray colored? My 283 is orange but it came out of a 63 Chevy Biscayne. The 283 is a good motor.

1957-66 283cid 2bbl carb. truck. The M suffix code means it is a 1958-64 283cid manual transmission truck engine rated at 160HP. You would need to find the date code to narrow it down from there. My guess it's the correct engine, just been out of the truck before. Joseph

Replacement, should be MX or MY if original, codes as a 58.
