Wheel Fitment

Hi guys,

Being very unfamiliar with these trucks I have what I assume is a elementary question. I have a 60/61, I am going to run drop spindles and turn the bars down in the front, in the rear I am either going to run a 4" drop spring or a 2" drop spring and 2" blocks (for increased ride quality)

After lowering the truck Wheels will be a must, I was looking at some of the US Wheel Rally style wheels, would I have issues running 16x10 in the rear and 16x8 in the front with a decent size tire (no super low profile tires) I am leaning towards a white wall with a decent height sidewall.
Does anyone have pictures of a similar setup?

In addition, what vendor do you guys suggest for the springs, drop spindles and blocks?

Thanks so much!

The front shouldn't be a problem. Is your truck stepside or fleetside? The 10 inch wide rears might be pushing it depending on the backspacing but I'm sure other members can verify. Also, I think a good 4" drop coil may provide the same ride quality as 2" drop plus blocks. What about it, Guys?

Re: Wheel Fitment

I have 8in wide wheels on the rear of my step side with standard back spacing and 275 wide tire. When I had a 4 inch drop I had no clearance problems. I don't know how much a wider wheel increases the width of a wide tire. If you are sure you are going to stick with a 4 inch drop I would get blocks and springs. I have always heard that keeping the springs to as close to stock as possible is best. It also allows you to have shocks with more travel.

Re: Wheel Fitment

All of my suspension, brakes etc are ordered, I ended up converting to 5 on 5, 3" rear drop springs 2" rear lowering blocks, 2-1/2 drop spindles up front and will turn the bars down! I need to go ahead and get wheels coming, after countless hours of looking I have decided upon black steel smoothies with the police cap! Now HELP.... I am thinking about 17x8 front and 17x9 rear and running a 3 inch wide whitewall, am I going to run into issues rubbing? what backspacing do you guys suggest?
