Has anyone used the CPP 500 series steering box?

I am needing a new steering box and have been looking at these on eBay. I just wanted to know if anyone has used them and if they are any better than the other remanufactured boxes out there. I would appreciate any input. I have put a lot of money into my truck and don't want to skimp on the box if it is better. http://www.ebay.com/itm/CPP-500-SERI...b291bb&vxp=mtr

Thanks for the link, I may get one to. Mine has about 3 inches of play at the steering wheel.

Re: Has anyone used the CPP 500 series steering box?

Thats very interesting, and looks like a nice box! I did notice that it says in dark bold print that it uses a 3/4 x 30 spline output shaft. I don't know what our factory output shaft size is, but the bold print makes me wonder if its different, which might require a different steering arm. Thanks for the link.

What's your year and model? Was it a direct replacement with no other parts required?

Re: Has anyone used the CPP 500 series steering box?

1969 Chevy C10 & yes direct bolt on useing factory bolts. The only difference was the rag joint and that may be because I used an Ididit steering column? So call them about that they can help you with figuring that out.

Re: Has anyone used the CPP 500 series steering box?

Have heard a lot of good things about these improved steering boxes. Would like to get one in my truck as well. The standard rebuilt garbage in it right now is a piece of junk.

Re: Has anyone used the CPP 500 series steering box?

I did get my CPP box. It hasn't been installed yet. Initially they sent me the wrong box(sent one for a g body) and now I need to get a new high pressure line made. I really don't want a power steering mess twice.

I installed a redhead on my k30 this summer and have no complaints. Along with the box, I did the XJ mod. REALLY NICE NOW!

I also did a Redhead on my 2004 2500 Yukon XL about 6 months ago. Very pleased with it!

Re: Has anyone used the CPP 500 series steering box?

It is using the Jeep Cherokee(XJ) intermediate shaft instead of the stock GM one that has rag joints. The Jeep uses Borgenson joints. These will only work on steering columns that have a double D output shaft

Did this to my K5 and helped with the extra slop. $10 in a junkyard but takes a little to get one out.

How can you tell if your output shaft is 3/4-30 spline? I would like to get one of these. I have a 79 chevy c10.

I'd kill for one of these to go on my 98. My 78 is still nice and tight.

What is really so special about these CPP 500 boxes? Can you make sharper turns with one of these in our trucks.

Re: Has anyone used the CPP 500 series steering box?

(direct steering) 14:1 ratio I mean you turn you're there.
In my opinion it's the closest thing you can get to rack and pinion steering.
Just google CPP 500 series many articles in many magazines.
Get one & enjoy
