Interior Paint Color Debate
Ok, so my interior is currently black on a red truck. I am debating whether to go back to red on the metal and keep the soft parts black. Looking for a modern classic look. What do you think?

Re: Interior Paint Color Debate
I like the look of the black dash. I think that looks great. What about painting just the doors red with the black door panel?

Re: Interior Paint Color Debate
If I do red it's going to look something like this one. I will reupholster my seat with an all black vinyl or leather.

Re: Interior Paint Color Debate
For a stock classic look this is the way to go, but honestly if your going through the trouble saddle or grey looks best on a red truck. Red looks good in a black truck. Also if your swapping the dash do like I did and install a 61 double hump dash. Lol just my .02 but the black dash and red inserts are not my cup of tea. Also the doors need to be red like on this pic...

Re: Interior Paint Color Debate
Well since you asked ill chime in and say to me much of the appeal of the old trucks is the inside metal painted body color. While the present all black doesnt look bad, it reminds me of any newer vehicle or even cars from the 60s/70s...monotone. So many people seem to want to do away with the features that make it classic i wonder sometimes whybtheybdont start with a 2000 or something..but thats just me.
Its your truck, what we think doesnt and shouldnt matter, and its just paint. Not like it cant easily be repainted later if you change your mind.

Re: Interior Paint Color Debate
If it were my truck I'd do the red dash, black gauge bezel, black glove box door, and red door with black panel. I'd leave the seat I love the two toned seat and it looks like a houndstooth seat. This is a picture of my old truck not black door panels but the black on the dash broke up the green. My current truck has a solid Vinyl seat and my green one was way more comfortable too

Re: Interior Paint Color Debate
My opinion is the dash like in post #3 with the glove box door painted black.

Re: Interior Paint Color Debate
It looks so nice now, my first thought was 'why change it?'. Then I scrolled down to post #3 and thought 'oh man, that's even better!'. Do what you want but if it was mine and I had a choice, I'd go with body color.

Re: Interior Paint Color Debate
I'd leave it just the way it is! It looks great right now and it's not like you are taking it back to original by doing all that work

Re: Interior Paint Color Debate
My opinion is since you are going to fix the radio cutout in the dash, might as well paint the interior red to match while you are at it. But I say keep the seat/dash pad/door panels as is.
You just keep upping the bar on this truck. I need to swing by sometime and see how the bed turned out.

Re: Interior Paint Color Debate
I would probably go with the red interior. I like it better.

Re: Interior Paint Color Debate
Definitely paint it red. I bet it bugs you the jambs are red and the metal on the inside of the door is black.

Re: Interior Paint Color Debate
The red interior in post #3 is a 10. Your black interior is a 9.9, and it looks great. I'd certainly leave it because I love a black interior anyway, and there is a uniqueness about it. But if you're going for a 10(looks like you are judging from the rest of the truck), and more of an original look, then Id go for the red. Depends on how much you want it to do all the work for a 0.1 upgrade. Great looking truck either way.

Re: Interior Paint Color Debate
It looks great as is, the only thing I would change would be to paint the inside of doors red, but that's it.

Re: Interior Paint Color Debate
I'm going to be swapping out the dash for one that is not cut so I can install a RetroSound radio to keep that classic look. I also purchased a new wiring harness since I have so many extras and just to update it. So while I'm at it I figured i could go to an all red interior since I have to pull it all apart and paint the dash anyways.
I'm really leaning towards the red for that classic look but i too like the black interior on occasion. Thanks for all the replies guys!

Re: Interior Paint Color Debate
I just installed a retrosound and ended up buying the little quad 4 amp after installing and listening to it. The unit was loud enough to here but did not sound that great. The amp cleared up the issue. I stuck it behind the glove box, it's small, made for the radio and is a straight plug in. I also used some little old 125w box speakers I had laying around. I stuck them under the seat toward the front, and they point at the back of your feet. Sounds good, and was a quick non invasive solution.
