Cable driven wiper motor
Looking to replace the wiper motor & linkage on my '50. Current setup is a single speed blazer unit. I had at one time the Newport 2 speed system that died. Never liked the fact that the arms would never self park in the right position no matter how many times I adjusted it. I see that Specialty Power makes a cable driven wiper motor #WWK4754-2I with intermittent wiper switch. Any feedback on this system? The price is comparable to a new motor & linkage.

Re: Cable driven wiper motor
I'm interested in opinions on this too. I'm after a 2-3 speed with intermittant wipe function and self park.
Thanks Mack |

Re: Cable driven wiper motor
Raingear wipers are well made but they are a bit pricey. The 2 speed intermittent is about $450 for the AD trucks and $400 for the TF trucks. They do fit with vintage and other AC systems, radio would have to be small and not the original and does not work with under dash (in dash) master cylinders like the Kugel kit

Re: Cable driven wiper motor
That's the system I was referring to. Is it working out for you?

Re: Cable driven wiper motor
I haven't used it yet the cab is in the paint shop, but it should work great and as for the noise i don't think it will be with all the grease in it.

Re: Cable driven wiper motor
cable wipers eventually make a lot of noise. They are easier to install

Re: Cable driven wiper motor
Well, this is definitely not a bolt in unit, it's going to take more ingenuity on my part. The tubes require cutting and flaring. The illustrations I've seen shows the motor mounted on the passenger side of the cab under the dash. This won't work for me because of the AC unit. Drivers side has the fuse block. I may be able to get it to fit on the MC brace behind the gauges if it'll clear the defroster ducts. The gauges are being replaced anyways with a set of Dakota Digitals so I have the access to the brace.

Re: Cable driven wiper motor
Spent the last couple of days off & all on this install, that's right, days! As I mentioned before my biggest problem was the location to mount the motor. I started out trying out the cowl vent brace (my vent's welded up) but the angle was all wrong. Then I noticed the two bolts on the firewall, not sure what the intended was originally but I unbolted them I was plesantly surprised to see there was a plate attached. I taped the motor to the plate then bolted it back in and it worked out perfectly so I welded it to the motor mounting plate. After several attempts I finally got it to work. Now you can adjust the sweep on this and I will have to take it out at least once more before I'll call it good!

Re: Cable driven wiper motor
Pulled the trigger on the unit with the intermitt switch. We'll see how it goes.
