Make these tailgate chains go away!
I am looking for a very cool way to discretely latch my 1959 Fleetside tailgate and have searched the forum and the internet for options none of which I want to like.
What I haven't seen is a electronic style latch and release much like a trunk release on a car which I think would work slick. You'd have the remote "trunk" release AND a cable pull (the emergency handle from inside the trunk). It might only latch on one side but the other side may be held in place by a very high end (50$) strong magnet of sorts. When you release the "latched" side you'd have the leverage to get the magnet side to release. I've considered a solenoid style release pin too as it would only draw power in action but it would be the ONLY way to release the gate. Has anybody attempted this? Results? Other ideas? Admin: please feel free to move this post if I am in the wrong category. |
