My first 72
I finally did it, got myself my first classic, 1972 k5 Blazer with a 4 spd manual , 350, that's pretty much all I know. Wish I knew more about engine miles but the gauges all work and the rust is very minimal. I'm a total newbi when it comes to restoring and fixing rust but I'm just generally excited to have this first gen and have some fun.

Looks like fun. Mine is a 70 with a 4spd and I love it. I am still in the rust repair mode daily but its coming along. I have learned that rust repair on a blazer is significantly more challenging than a truck. Too many things tie together. Keep that in mind. I have found out the hard way that there is definitely a sequence to fixing rust on a blazer.

Looks like a great truck. I love those spare tire carriers too. Enjoy that awesome Colorado air with the top off. I lived in Westminster from 95-99 and wish I was thinking ahead enough to bring a blazer home with me instead of buying mine in the northeast.

The rust is very minimal so I haven't decided if I should tackle it myself or have it done. Would you mind explaining why the sequence is so different on these k5's?

On a truck the cab and bed are independent of each other. On the blazer the rocker system ties into the bed. So my problem was I started with the drivers side floor, rocker box, A pillar patch, kick panel patch, etc. got done with all that and moved to replace the bed floor. Can't replace bed floor very easily at all without taking off the bedsides. (Although I am trying it as we speak). Can't take the bed sides off with out taking apart the rocker box end cap, rocker box reinforcement and outer rocker. You get the drift. So I have done trucks but never a blazer until now and it appears to me that the best place to start is the bed and work your way forward.

That makes sense, I'm a total newb when it comes to these vehicles. It's a little overwhelming cause I have no idea where to start, but I think for now I'm just gonna enjoy driving it, dressing up the engine bay and cleaning the cab out, as I search more I'll have a better idea of things to do

Nice, I'm in green valley ranch, you know anyone that can patch up a few rusts spots, I have no idea how to weld and I'm not super comfortable starting on a vehicle has some value to it.
