SBC Pulleys?
Can anyone explain why there are single, double and triple groove lower pulleys and single, double WP pulleys? Im sure AC, power steering and smog pumps play a part but im trying to make sense of it all. Thanks

Quote:
Water Pump = 1/2 Power Steering = 1 Crank Pulley = 2/3 Alternator is always around water pump/crank Power steering is crank AC is water pump/crank If you have no ac .. Crank pulley = 2 If you have ac .. Crank pulley = 3 |

Re: SBC Pulleys?
I am building a 77 C10 Heavy Half and it had a manual steering box and no ac. But did have a smog pump. I have a crank pulley with one groove that i think (dont remember for sure) came off this truck. I am adding power steering but will use the smog pump also, no ac. Do i need to get the double groove crank pulley? The spare steering pump that i have has a double groove pulley. Not sure what that is about?

karl: Depends on what engine is in the truck. Mine is a LS9(350) with HD emissions which means it "Did not" come with a smog pump or cat. converter. Larry P.S. Not sure about the non H.D. 350. BTW mine is also a non P/S+A/C truck. |

Re: SBC Pulleys?
I think the double grove PS pulley makes AC belt routing easier. The 2nd grove gives the AC belt a safe routing around the PS pump pulley.

Re: SBC Pulleys?
The 2 groove powersteering pulleys are used with a.c. on my k5 I removed the double water pump pulley for a singe and used the 3 groove crank pulley and used two 36in belts on the powersteering pump then the alternator, water pump and in your case smog pump would run on the other groove
