Good fuses Bad gauges

Hello all, I'm hoping someone can help me. I recently purchased a 87 K5 with a blown engine. I installed a new engine in it and it now runs and drives but i have no gauges working but the speedo. The check engine light and the brake light come on when you first turn the key on then go off like normal and my dash lights work and all of my fuses under the dash are good. Has anyone had this problem or know how i might fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Good fuses Bad gauges

First, check the fuse with a meter.

If it has continuity, check for power on the line side of the GAUGE/IDLE fuse (probe the RH clips in the socket - when looking forward).

Do you have directionals and back-up lights?

The line side of the TURN B/U fuse is common to the line side of the GAUGE/IDLE fuse. Both are fed directly from the ignition switch.

If the line side of the fuse is hot and the fuse proves good, check that the IP ground connection is tight and clean at the common ground block (under the dash, above the e-brake pedal).

After that, pull the IP connector from the back of the panel and confirm power at both tabs that connect to the pink/black leads.
