1990 GMC c2500 steering feels like its binding up on cold mornings.

Power steering pump is full to the correct level on my 5.7 ltr. I noticed this morning which was our first real cold morning that the steering felt as if was binding when I went to pull away from the curb....as if I had manual steering for several seconds until it dissipated. Factory size tires and suspension...everything is stock.

Anyone experience this nonsense. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Re: 1990 GMC c2500 steering feels like its binding up on cold mornings.

I ran into this while doing a Hydroboost conversion on my 66 C20. Spoke with an expert at a company I purchased a restricting valve and he told me they call it "morning sickness." Older power steering gear boxes can get this issue first thing in the morning and then work fine the rest of the day. Internal seals get worn and fluid flows past the seals. I replaced the PS gearbox, problem solved.

Thank you, it seems to make complete sense.
