Another seat thread
Hey everyone! I have a '53 with a stock seat and looking to possibly put something else in there due to a little discomfort. I'm about 6'3" and things get a bit cramped. I'd love buckets, but my son will be born in March and I can see a few family cruises in my future, so I'm thinking a 60/40 with fold-down console would be best. Only thing I can really find in leather is a second row Durango seat. I've heard of the Astro/Safari option but very tough to find. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Re: Another seat thread
I would think tahoe 2nd or 3rd row seats would work good. Probably 99-06 would look better as they are a little more rounded like the stock style

Re: Another seat thread
The 2nd row bench would probably be too wide, 2nd row buckets would be fine and just build a center console but you need a middle seat... could make it flat enough to strap a car seat onto lol...
3rd row bench is 49" wide with built in retracting seat belts. Haven't measured what my stock seat is though. I really think your gonna have a hard time fitting 2 adults and a car seat in the middle unless your both 100lbs... |

I like the 3rd row Tahoe/Yukon seats, but most of them have no console. I known can go up to 55 inches so a 2nd row Tahoe seat may work. Heading to the salvage yard soon to see what's available. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Another seat thread
I just tried to tackle it today. A lot of cutting (guessing) and still not bolted in. I dont recommend 2nd row seat from a Tahoe. Now I'm considering relocating the gas tank for it to fit properly. I only have $40 in these seats is the reason for the "extra effort"! I will post when finished!

Re: Another seat thread
I measured the stock seat for the guy who bought my GMC and it was 56". I have an 88-98 bench for the 49 and I can put a tape on it if someone needs the measurement.

Re: Another seat thread
I'll measure my yukon xl 2nd row seat and see what it is. You could even do a tahoe split 3rd row and space them to have a console in the center, but it would only be 6-7" wide... enough for some cup holders though.

Re: Another seat thread
If you want to cruise with the little one sooner than later, look at seats that have an integrated LATCH kiddie seat attachment system.

Re: Another seat thread
I've got a split bench out of a 89 or 90 extended cab in my 71 GMC that sits comfortable and lets the driver put his/her seat at a comfortable driving position without bothering the passengers. I'm 5-10 and my wife is 4-10 so bench seats don't work real well for us.
I've found in my truck over the years that car bucket seats don't work well in these cabs as the lean backs lean back at too much of an angle on most of them. I've never tried mini van seats that sit more upright but that might be an option for someone wanting buckets or individual seats with a console.

Re: Another seat thread
Hi New to the forum but I got rear seat out of a 2007 Buick Rendevous, leather, 55 inches wide with centre arm rest, or 3rd seat. comes as 2 seats, made up a frame to mount both. Fold forward for access behind seat and not to high sticking up in BBW 55 I have.

Re: Another seat thread
I will be using a 60/40 seat from a 1999 Dakota, It has nice main buckets with a fold down arm rest center with storage capability and some slick slide away cup holders below the middle section of the seat. Also you can fold the seat ahead for access to whatever you may have hiding behind there.

Re: Another seat thread
I guess I should have added that I will be cutting down the upper portion of the seat to blend with the shoulder areas for that exact reason. If you don't plan on re-upholstering the seats there are other better options (those Buick seats are very nice imo)
