1965 door lock
Okay all I thought this was going to be simple but I'm not seeing anything on the web . I'm trying to replace the lock on my truck so I can lock it. Haven't had time to check the truck since its out on the farm. But when I search for the replacement lock they don't look the same. Lmc has the set of outside handle but doesn't sell the push button locks. Can any one help me out what am I not seeing

Re: 1965 door lock
the aftermarket locks absolutely SUCK. I would recommend a set of original door locks...they pop up on e bay, aftermarket door locks are cheaply made. Broke my $99 set of locks after 1 year od daily driver use. Bought used GM door handles with original locks and key on E bay for 45 dollars....never have had a problem since AND they work like they should.

Re: 1965 door lock
Locdoc here on the board can do the rekey for you. Finding original ones with out the keys and having a lock smith redo them to match you ignition may be the easiest way to go.

Re: 1965 door lock
So I took the door apart to get to the handle wish I would have taken more pics of the tear down but I managed to take apart the lock and got to the tumblers. In the first pick u can see the spring clip if for some reason thats not seated your key will not work even if its the correct one. So after pulling the retaining clip all 6 springs and tapping the tumblers out I started with one, placed it in a spot and checked to see if it worked. After trial and error and about 20 minutes I managed to get 5 of 6 to work well . for some reason the last one just didn't want to work and I wasn't going to re arrange them all 5 of 6 is good enough. My passenger door has a lock so I will be taking it apart next week.
