Removing body from frame with a two post lift
I have my front clip and top off. Engine, tranny, transfer case out. I have a two post lift. Any wisdom on where the best place is to put the lift? I want to roll the frame out to do all cleaning/painting and to drop in new engine, tranny, transfer case, etc. While I have it in the air, my goal is to clean and paint (rattle can) the bottom of the floorboards, rear fender wells, etc. I've been out there the past few nights looking (it's up on the lift), and I can't decide where I should place the lifting pads on the body. It's a pretty solid (CA car) body. Rocker boxes seem solid.

Re: Removing body from frame with a two post lift
here's a couple of pics.....front under the floor braces
at the back I used a couple of 4x4's cut about 4 feet long....put them under the floor cross braces outside of the frame rails. |

Re: Removing body from frame with a two post lift
Chad,
There are endless threads on here, and on CK5 about taking it off with.....well, everything you can imagine! Some guys got unbelievably creative. While I certainly don't claim any personal knowledge of the subject, I do know that searching for 'remove body' and/or 'body off frame' on both sites will yield an unbelievable number of threads. Also, don't hesitate to PM someone who did it in way that makes sense to you. I've PM'd a number of people because the thread was 5 or 10 years old and long dead, and in most cases they have responded. Some great peeps on these boards! |
