Rear suspension
I have 1953 Chevy truck and I am debating what rear suspension to use. I would the truck sit low with a static drop. Up front will be a danforth crossmember with drop spindles. It is notched into the frame to drop an additional 1" or so. It will be 4-5 drop up front. I am looking for a level rake.
Would the leaf spring kit from TCI with blocks provide enough to drop to make it level? Has anyone used the ride tech 4 link triangulated rear kit? I am also considering what Dave from Hollister did with the trailing arm kit from Classic. Any help would be appreciated. |

Re: Rear suspension
IMO, a flip kit with 2 or 3" blocks would level it out. Do you still have factory leaf springs and axle? I'm sure someone with with more OG frame expertise will jump in.

Re: Rear suspension
The TCI leaf spring kit is going to be a bolt on with welding on the axle perches, The trailing arm fab required was making some extension plates for the cross member and the coil spring mounts, and the spring perches the rest was bolt in. You could use coil over shocks to get past the coil spring mounts,
TCI also has a 4 bar with coil overs that's a bolt in. It lowers the rear 4" Any of these would get you down lower. you will have to play with any of them to get where you want to be. Last edited by dwcsr; 12-20-2015 at 09:23 PM. |

Re: Rear suspension
I have decided to go with the trailing arms like Dave did, I have also decided to bag it. I am already there, bare frame, might as well. Thanks Dave for your help. Should have the Danforth Cross member installed tomorrow, I hope.

It's only around $350 more (with your forum member 10% discount) than the ECE kit and includes bags. |
