Opinions or ideas needed
I've got my new to me 205 installed, and now I need to figure out just what to do with the drive shaft. The way it sits right now, it's going to hit the cross member that housed the old carrier bearing. The way it sits, it's about a 12 degree slope from the tailshaft to the pinion on the rear end. I figure I have two options, 1 would be to lower the cross-member holding up the tcase, or 2 just modify the cross member to provide some clearance. Any ideas of what I should do would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Opinions or ideas needed
Clearancing the crossmember is going to be a whole lot easier than lowering the t-case.
You should easily be able to clearance and reinforce the modified area on the cross member. -Brad

Re: Opinions or ideas needed
Some type of driveshaft loop might work.

Re: Opinions or ideas needed
I skimmed through your build thread and was trying to find where you mounted your engine. Would be a good time to move it forward before the drivelines are built. I know the t-case is already done, but if you convert the rear of the case to a fixed yoke it will all clear without frame mods.

Re: Opinions or ideas needed
How will a fixed yoke change the centerline or angle? The DS will hit that crossmember regardless unless there's a huge lift.
The carrier bearing center would be what 3-5 inches below what it is in the pic if it was still there? My guess is something has been changed and the rear of the TC needs to come way down. Last edited by franken; 12-26-2015 at 09:16 PM. |

Re: Opinions or ideas needed
Since you moved the engine forward already, even with the fixed yoke you will have notch the member....just not nearly as much. Your drive shaft will probably need to be at least a 2.75'' tube minimum, being a 1 piece

Re: Opinions or ideas needed
I agree with going to a fixed yoke on the rear of the t-case. It will shorten up the overall length of the t-case, plus it's what these trucks came with anyways.

Re: Opinions or ideas needed
All you need is a rear output shaft, seal retainer, and seal. 100 bucks on ebay.

Re: Opinions or ideas needed
I think I'll start looking. If I'm going to do it, I only want to build the driveshaft once LOL
