Narrowing the front track width

So I'm debating on instead of buying wheels right now for mucho $$$ just running the rallies. I have a 5/7 drop and the factory control arms push the wheels out about flush with the fender.. My question is would the Porterbuilt inch narrow inch forward control arms make it look closer to the rear? Will they also make it drive better?

Re: Narrowing the front track width

I had to run 1/2" spacers in order to clear the hubcaps of the hubs of the Dana 60. This brought the rear track width OUT to be much closer to the front, and now it doesn't look so weird.

I'd never run wheel adapters but after careful consideration I decided a spacer was fine; particularly with 8 lug bolts that I upsized to 9/16"

Any reason not to widen the rear rather than narrow the front?

Yeah I got that from the original post, but is there a reason why that I haven't considered?

Normally wide-track is better than narrow-track; just curious. Not putting you on the spot, just wondering why of the two options that's your preferred.

Re: Narrowing the front track width

I guess if money wasn't an option I would go on and buy wheels with the correct spacing but not looking to spend $5 grand.. Would rather spend $1200 or so on control arms and just run what I have for now.. I suppose I could run a spacer in the rear just more worried about the front rubbing the fender lip

Re: Narrowing the front track width

I've used 3" lowering spindles by Street Scene off of EBay that pull the front rims in. Narrowing the track width.

Re: Narrowing the front track width

Could always get the front wheel offset moved by a shop that restores/modifies wheels?

You can't run more than 4" backspacing on a 15" wheel without hitting the tie rods. This works with bigger diameter wheels only.

Re: Narrowing the front track width

I know exactly what you mean... I went the new wheel route. I replaced my 15x8s all the way around with new matching 15x7s in the front with the same BS (so essentially pulling the wheels "in" 1" per side).

This is correct for 6-lug rally wheels because the 7's and 8's both have a 4" bs..

This is slightly different with 5-lug rally wheels.
15x8 have a 4" bs.
15x7 have a 3-5/8" bs.
15x6.5 (van rallys) have a 4" bs.

Re: Narrowing the front track width

Are those 8" rallyes? What about a pair of narrower rallyes?

Re: Narrowing the front track width

A pair of the 7" ralleys would do the trick. That's what I did with my truck.
They are rare but I have 4 stashed away.

Re: Narrowing the front track width

Wasn't going to be a pic whore... but since others have mentioned it...

15x8 all the way around, corvette style rally:

Swapped the fronts to 15x7 with the same BS as the rear:

Re: Narrowing the front track width

I think CPP have a set of drop spindles that is suppose to narrow your wheel track.
I also like others run 15x7 fronts and 15x8 in the rear.

Re: Narrowing the front track width

I was hoping to keep my tires.. They are new. A 7 in wheel would be to narrow for my tire
