3/4 ton rear end to a 5 lug wheel..72

Friend of mine has a '72 3/4 ton with 6 lug wheels.

He wants to replace that rear end with a new 5 lug with disc brakes.

What should he be looking for that is mostly a direct fit?

Thanks in advance...

Sorry I can not offer any help with the conversion but I thought all 3/4 ton trucks were 8 lug?

It's either an 8 lug with 8 to 6 lug adapters. (If they even have them?) or its previously been converted to a 6 lug.

Re: 3/4 ton rear end to a 5 lug wheel..72

I think it's a typo.

The most direct fit would be a 1/2 ton axle from a 72 with the same suspension type (coils or leafs). You wouldn't get disc brakes but there is nothing with disc that is an easy fit.
