Help with underseat speaker and antenna
Hello,
My wife bought a Retro Sound radio and the kickpanel speakers that they sell with them, as a present a few months ago. My truck is getting close to completion so I finally got around to installing the radio last weekend. So, I don't need a crazy sound system, but I thought that I could add a speaker or two under the seat. Can anyone help? Would a powered subwoofer work well for me? Are there and problems or special considerations, or does it just wire in and your set? I know very little about audio. I am just guessing that a powered speaker would be best with this radio. If there are other good solutions, let me know. Also, my truck has no exterior antenna. Can I just search hidden car antenna and buy or is there anything that I need to know? |

Re: Help with underseat speaker and antenna
You need to look at the room available under the seat you may not have room for the sub.

Re: Help with underseat speaker and antenna
Hey Buddy,
I haven't measured under my seat but it seems like they have several compact solutions. They have some called Undercover Speakers that aren't powered, but then I found some like the Cerwin Vega VPSA10, that are powered. There are several similar setups. I'm not sure if there is more to it than just buying a powered sub and hooking it up. Again, I want be playing and crazy loud booming music, but I think it wouldn't hurt to do a little better than my current two speakers on the kickpanels. |

Re: Help with underseat speaker and antenna
I have a hidden antenna in both my Harley and my S10. The Ribbon Antenna in my Harley works better than the Stick type under my headliner in my S10.

Re: Help with underseat speaker and antenna
I have the Retrosound radio in my '63.
This is the underseat powered subwoofer that I used. I am not an electronics/audio expert but it sounds good to me. I installed it on the center hump under the seat, plenty of room. Here is the link at amazon: Amazon.com: SSL LOPRO8 Amplified Subwoofer System... Good luck, Hugh |
