Re: Grille guard/brush guard

It bolts to the top of the bumper. There are also two support rods which are supposed to pass through the grille and core support and bolt to the frame. I would just discard those, unless you want to cut your grille. Later model guards didn't use the supports.

Re: Grille guard/brush guard

I'd love to get some measurements off of this thing to build my own... Has anyone done that yet?

Re: Grille guard/brush guard

Being as how these are so rare, could you do us all a huge favor and post some detail pics of it in the Original thread that's stickied at the top of the section?

I'd love to know how thick the metal is, the design of the bars in the center (solid or formed stampings) etc. etc.

Re: Grille guard/brush guard

It would be a bit of a challenge to build. It curves with the bumper. It also contours the front of the hood.
I contacted Luverne Truck Equipment years ago to see if they supplied GM with the original since their profile of the V shaped vertical center posts were similar to the GM Original. They actually called me after I sent them a fax from the original accessories installation manual. During the conference call they were wondering if I wanted to mass reproduce the grill guard. When I told them " NO " the conversation ended quickly and they never answered my question.
