Fuel system

Gathering parts for my 6.0/4L80E swap. Will a fuel sending unit from an 1987 with the return line on it fit in my factory 1977 tank?

I doubt it, pretty sure in '77 they still used the small opening sender. think the large opening started in the early '80's. I would just get a new '87 tank so you would also have the baffeling.

x2. They are too cheap not to buy (about $80-85 for a tank). The baffles are a necessity in my book (though many will argue with me). There's always that one time you run the tank low because you are short on time or money. You then run the risk of stalling out while pulling into traffic, or making a turn, which can make for an unsafe condition. Baffles will prevent this (to an extent, they don't help if you run the tank dry! ).

so im trying to figure this out too. what kind of tank is that 87 from. then what sending unit do i use. alot of guys say the blazer tanks hang way to low for trucks that are on air ride is that true.

I ordered a tank for an 87 R10. Spectra Performance Gm11C.
The sending unit is SP05M1H, it includes the sending unit and fuel pump.
Both were ordered from Amazon

that will not work for me. i need mine to fit between my frame rails behind rear end. i have a 67 c10.

FYI, that pump will not have high enough pressure for an LS swap. I believe it's rated only for TBI (20 psi max). You may already be aware, but just wanted to let you know if you didn't. You can replace it directly with an ACDelco EP381 though to get a pump capable of running an LS.

I suspected that it might not have enough pressure. Thanks for verifying that for me! I'll be ordering a new pump.
