Manual to power steering
I'm converting to power steering on my 1977 Chevy C10 Custom Deluxe. It has a 250 and I have the brackets, pump, and gear box. I was just curious if anything else is needed and tips on the swap
Thanks |

Re: Manual to power steering
You might need new main and water pump pulleys to handle the extra belt + the new belt. You didn't mention having the PS hoses or fluid.

I have fluid and hoses and a bunch of different belts and pulleys, but I was curious mostly if I needed a new pitman arm and if the steering box mounted the same

Re: Manual to power steering
I did this on my 79 with a 350 and the steering boxes mount the same on the frame. You do want the pitman arm from the power steering box though. Since you are there you might as well replace the rag joint between column and box.

Re: Manual to power steering
Did it on my 77 a few years ago.Finding the right pulleys can be a problem.
I also added factory air to it at the same time. It's worth the trouble it takes! Mike. |
