New guy / new project
Found the forum while browsing for ideas for the field truck I just bought. Not looking to lift it. Bought it for a general use truck. Not looking to make it super pretty but want to do things right and make it last. Really debating on whether to keep the current bed or try and sell it to fund parts and just put a flat bed on the back.
Open to any ideas but the budget is next to nothing. 1984 Chevy one ton 4x4 chassis cab truck. Dana 60 front with lock outs, goodwrench 350 engine, NP 205 transfer case, 400 turbo trans, corporate 14 bolt rear end truck has 4:10 gears. It has sat for three years. I did a once over, hooked up a battery and put some gas in the carb and it fired up on the first try. Also has a dump bed but it got parked because they wrecked the dump mechanism. I won't know how much damage till I get it down to my place and go through it a bit better. It's still in the field 2 hrs away. Some pics below. There are more on photo bucket if you click on one of the pics. I didn't want to overload the thread. |

I would love to find a truck like that. Should make for a solid work truck. A dump box would be a huge bonus, if you can get the parts to make it work again.

Re: New guy / new project
Thanks guys. I'm looking forward to digging into her. I have several friends who have done complete refurbs of these trucks but this will be a first for me.
Any suggestions from the collective wisdom here on things to be on the lookout for or be cautious about? |
