Brand new brake master cylinder failed, help!
I bought a round top Brake Master Cylinder. Assuming that was the right part I needed, my fault for going to AutoZone I guess. The only had the round top single master cylinder and a dual master cylinder. I have the 1 1/8th single master cylinder with the square top originally.... After doing research and a lot of brake bleeding, the new round top would not work! Also found out that the round top is 1 inch bite and the original square top Style is 1 1/8th bore.... Pedal down to the floor, I adjusted the push rod all the way and I had 2 inches of play before it started engaging..... Where are can I find the square style master cylinder? Or do the still make them? Or are there any more alternatives I can try before I attempt to return the brake master cylinder to autozone? Are longer brake push rods?

Would it be a good idea to rebuild the original master cylinder with one of the kits on rock auto?

I think if I needed a master for one I would do the update to the duel pot and split the system. Cost is not to much to do it and the added safety is well worth the money.

Re: Brand new brake master cylinder failed, help!
Thanks guys. I have to take my truck on another 120 mile trip this coming weekend and I'm not gonna have the time to do a whole dual master cylinder job because I drive the truck everyday to work, that's why I was thinking about slapping in a new one or a re build it cuz that'll only take me a good 1 in a half after work. Mostly likely get a new single for now and then do a dual cylinder job when I have a good weekend to myself
Question: How do you bench bleed? |
