GMC Front sheet metal assembly

I hope you guys can help....
I have a 57 GMC 100 truck that I got as project, completely dismantled.

I am currently assembling the front end sheet metal. It's all bolted together, apart from the where the forward tops of the inner wings meet the radiator bulkhead. I can't figure out how the top of the bulkhead bolts the inner wings.

See gaps on the attached pics.

Have I got some brackets missing?

Thanks in anticipation

Ok here's your bracket , support rod and the rest of the radiator bridge.

Also note the large brace from the cowl to the frame, this may be only a 4x4 thing as this is a 4x4.

I have a Canadian 57 gmc and I don't remember my rad support looking like that. were US models different or was there a mid year change?

Yup, the US models were different than our Canadian built trucks. I think of ours as more of a hybrid... GMC grills and emblems with a Chevy 235 motor...
Makes for interesting comparisons for sure!

Re: GMC Front sheet metal assembly

Does anyone have a pair of GMC fender tie brackets they can sell me?
Are they the same on Chevy trucks?
Thanks in anticipation

I don't know if Chevy is the same. I do know that the Chevy radiator support was a lot different but it may tie in the same. I bought a lot of parts for my '55 GMC from a truck at a local scrapyard and it did have those brackets. I saw a couple months ago that the truck is still there, not crushed yet but don't know if the brackets are still there. I'm sure it would be pretty expensive. I've never shipped across the pond!

From what I could see your truck is modified, judging by the bit of valve cover visible. Why don't you just make up some? I'm sure that would be a heck of a lot cheaper!

Hope you get something figured out!

Re: GMC Front sheet metal assembly

The Chevy Radiator support has a bolt from the inner fender to the end of the rad support and has a captured nut in the rad support.

Here is a picture of my '56 Chevy rad support, you can see there is no "T" shaped bracket and the rad support is a completely different design then the GMC.
