Drum Brake Star Adjuster??
Rear drum brakes - I found that the arms that are meant to contact the star adjusters on both rear sides to keep the adjusters from rotating freely do not actually contact the star adjuster on either side of my truck -- thus the rear drums will not stay properly adjusted. I have replaced all springs and hardware but still have the same issue. I have not changed the shoes, the adjusters, or the arms bc they do not look bent or oddly worn to my untrained eye. I'm going to buy new ones just to eliminate them as the issue, but first wanted some advice.
Could it be that the star or the arm are just worn? Is there something else that could be causing them not to touch to keep the adjustment wheel in place? Here are pics to hopefully help, tho it's hard to tell they aren't touching. |

Re: Drum Brake Star Adjuster??
They look worn like they have been working. Mine are the same way and only touch when activated which moves the arm down then they make contact.
Hope this helps. JR |
