Bedfloor and mud - what to do?
I think this will be a interest ing topic! - I my trying to build a nice weekend cruzer with new and fresh paint.. now I'm cut my long bed to be a short bed but I have some waves in it between the braces... Now should I cut my bed up more and replace new patch s( more in one spot).. Should I bang them back out and leave it be or should I bang them out and level it with bondo..I'm not going to put a 1/2 ton of bricks back there but am worried about cracking. . I am also planning in putting in bedliner spray.- your thoughts! . If a had tge money I would have just bought the new bed an called it good but money is tite..

If you had the time, take the bed apart, use a block of wood to pound the ripples back flat. That should straighten it out, but I think that also weakens the metal where it could easily bend back when you put some weight on it. Post some pics up and maybe someone else may chime in..

Re: Bedfloor and mud - what to do?
Welding creates heat, which shrinks metal so all the welds should be stretched, which will allow the metal to go back where it wants to be.
No wood should be involved. That would make things worse... |

Re: Bedfloor and mud - what to do?
What I was planning on doing to straight out the dents was make a jeg to to press them back in to place not shure if it will work but will to give that a try very soon. Used flat bar a two pices set up.drilling some holes in the bed. The flat bar will be on top and bottom like sandwich with the top having more area. In a sense.Same flat bar length as the channel s.. trying to make this look nice but don't like the idea of anything bondo witch is hard because of all the cut and welding involved. .
