Hi All,
I totally redid my front end with new moog upper control arms, CPP tubular lowers and sway-bar (see build thread in sig if interested). This made my steering really stiff and gave me lots of play in the steering wheel. Upon inspection I found the pitman arm twist before it starts to turn. Do I need a new steering box?

I'll be honest, I didn't see the video (can't watch it at work) but a "twist" in the pitman sounds similar to the problem I'm having.

My problem is due to my gigantic tires, but it's causing the frame to flex, and thus the steering box to move and twist before it creates enough force to move the tires. Offroad Design sells a couple different brackets to brace the frame to keep it from flexing.

vid735.photobucket.com took too long to respond. i have cpp front suspension as you do. check to see if there is a crack on frame where steering box or broken bolt. but like Wilkin says there is a brace kit to help prevent cracking from the flexing. my steering box leaks an plan on getting cpp 500 series box to replace it.

Is there play in your tie rod ends?

I second the ORD frame braces. Get them and install them.

When I put the frame braces on my k10, the whole front end feels WAY more solid especially when you hit a bump on the freeway. Cant wrong with reinforcing the frame by that area.

If your still looking to get the cpp 500 Roger has 2 new ones. could save you $50. if he still has one nxt wk i plan on getting one

Just depends. If your have big tire setup i would. The frame flexes. My 86 was stock an it still cracked. I plan on bracing mine
