Cruise placement
I've been talking with ls1nova71 about the cruise control for my 71 6.0. I need pictures of where you all mounted yours to see where I want mine mounted.
These are my 3 choices but I don't know if it will fit are not. The first two are on each side of the brake booster. The last picture is in behind the motor cover. I can take the cover off to mount it.

Re: Cruise placement
Well, I see you already have something going through the speedo cable hole. This is where I was thinking it would mount best. Do you think you could run a few more wires through that grommet?
Also, this is the lever I told you about, it's not put together yet, but wanted to show you the chrome. The pics make it look worse than it does in person since they're so big. Its the only one I have at the moment. If you want to wait I may have some In the future that are a little nicer, but not sure when, they are getting really hard to find these days.

Re: Cruise placement
I can get the wires through it. No problem. The turnsignal stick is fine. I can mount it any way I want right. I was think having the wires pointing downfo water run off. My truck is a driver so a little pitting ant nothing.
Thanks again!

Re: Cruise placement
I did a dakota digitals cruise which has a similar box and put it inside my dash. Just ran the cable out the firewall.

Re: Cruise placement
So the box has to be mounted close enough for the cable to reach the throttle body right? I can mount it any place as long as the cable and wires rech there points of hook up.

Re: Cruise placement
OK,
I got my cruise stuff from Eric who is better know by ls1nova71 I already have the cruise box mounted and cable ran with wiring inside the cab. Now all that is left to do is mount the new turn signal switch and hook up the wires! I had to trim my cover so I will have to touch up the paint on that and maybe even have a new one done later on. It's going to be nice to just hit the cruise and sit back and ride! The only thing I see in the whole thing is the bend in the turn signal switch. It looks to be more than the one I have now which is going to make it very tight between the wheel and the lever but hopefully I can straighten it out a little after I mount it up and check it.

Now for the PCM-VSS wire and turn signal. That's tomorrow I hope. Should have cruise by the end of the night I hope tomorrow!

Re: Cruise placement
A little more done. Got all the brake light wires and ground ran. Pulled the steering wheel and installed the new cruise turn signal lever. Getting that cable through the column proved to be interesting! I got it though without tearing anything up.
Tomorrow I hope to get it finished up and maybe a test drive. Have to pull the PCM out and hook 1 wire up to the VSS signal C-2 on the red connector from the PCM and it's done.

Re: Cruise placement
Just so we're clear, C2 is the red connector, you need the wire in pin 50 of the C2 (red) connector.

Re: Cruise placement
Good deal, glad you got it going. Now make sure all your connections are good, this is why I usually solder them.
