rear end swap brakes

i just swapped out a S-10 2wd rear end to a GM 8.5" 10 bolt on my 49 pickup. my question is are the brake drums interchangeable? my drums and shoes from the S10 are like new and would like to use them on the 10 bolt.

Re: rear end swap brakes

If you know what the 8.5 came out of plug one or the other into the O'Reilly parts hunt thing and use the compatibility link to see if they come up as a match.

This is their link for the brake drums and rotors and I see backing plates for an 89 V6 S10 two wheel drive. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/se...make=Chevrolet
Click on the compatibility link and it will show what the parts fit as far as other models. The list is long.

This is a cheat sheet that I use a lot to see what a part might come on besides what I'm working on.

Looking at the Dorman "Help" backing plates I see they go 79 to 92 with 9-1/2 inch brakes so I think you are good.
